AUSTIN, TEXAS
Not many people have the résumé that Nano Whitman does. This multitalented musician can confidently list himself as a Philadelphia native, an Austin resident, a Harvard grad, a Berklee attendee, and the General Manager of Austin’s beloved Home Slice Pizza.
On July 14th, Nano will celebrate the official release of I Leave On The Light, his first full-length recording. This beautifully arranged and tracked album is produced by Lars Goransson (Blondie, The Cardigans, Fastball) and includes the musical talents of Austin musicians such as former Spoon bassist Joshua Zarbo and renowned jazz singer Kat Edmonson.
At midnight, his band and friends will be taking the stage at the world-famous Continental Club. With special appearances by Snapping Chowsky and Kevin Peroni of Wiretree, Nano plans to keep the collaborative nature of his songwriting alive on the stage. The show will be MC’d by Phil Korshak of Austin Bat Cave‘s The Story Department, and all CD sales and profits from the show will go to this worthy Austin organization.
Monahans and Sad Accordions Release Split EP
The four song 12″ EP displays each band’s strengths while creating a cohesive piece of work. Sad Accordions’ signature mix of swirling guitars and passionate lyrics compose the songs “Denial Takes the Train” and “Sweet Cocaine”. The first song shows the intensity that the band has displayed repeatedly in their live shows while “Sweet Cocaine” winds down a country tinged path. Both tracks further prove the growth, maturity and wealth of talent that the band possesses.
Monahans’ offering includes two tracks taken from the ‘2010 Recordings’ sessions; “Bridge Commander” and the instrumental “Stationed”. The songs perfectly represent the artistic direction and musical quality that the band created during their prolific 2010. The steady build of each song captures your attention immediately while the driving rhythmic nature of the band’s trademark sound is on full display.
Edition of 500 and each copy includes a digital download card.
